Mamata’s one year rule did not yield any result: Buddhadeb

Kolkata:Former Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on Sunday strongly criticised the Mamata Banerjee government, saying that it “failed to deliver” goods in all spheres during its rule last one year. “The state is lagging behind in all areas with no news of fresh investment,no clear industrial policy, misrule in panchayat system and deteriorating law and order,” Bhattacharjee said at a rally at Dum Dum during campaign for the upcoming municipal poll. Bhattacharjee alleged that IT major Infosys might leave the state for want of proper industrial policy of the state government.

“Besides farmers are committing suicide,Trinamool Congress workers are forcibly capturing colleges one after another. They are driving out CPM workers to capture our party offices,” Bhattacharjee said.

Nobody expecting early elections: Karat

Kolkata:Amidst a buzz about early Lok Sabha election triggered by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s comments,CPM general secretary Prakash Karat on Sunday indicated that his party was not in favour of advancement of polls.

“Nobody is expecting early elections,” Karat told reporters at the NSCBI Airport here.

Banerjee had on Friday said she would be happy to see UPA-II last its full term,a day after she claimed that she had information that a political party in Delhi had held a meeting to advance the poll to 2013 and asked her party men to be ready for it.

O Brien said,”She said that she had heard this (advancing Lok Sabha poll) issue being discussed in Delhi. Now our statement clarified the position.”
