Man conned by tantrik,cheated of Rs 1.24 lakh

Falling prey to a tantrik’s claim of conjuring bundles of currency notes from a mere coin,one Kakkadsinh Gadhvi has lodged a complaint on Saturday,claiming he was duped for Rs 1.24 lakh.

According to the police,the complainant was lured by a 30-year old tantrik,Maharaj,and his accomplice,Jayesh Barot,with an antique coin,which the accused priced between Rs 1 to Rs 1.5 crore. Gadhvi,a resident of Times Square Apartment in Fatehgunj,met Maharaj and Barot on December 25,2008,while walking near the EME circle. “Thereafter,he met them three-four times and discussed his personal problems. On December 28,Gadhvi got back to work,only to meet the duo again on January 2,2009. Maharaj said that he will solve his problems with a 1940 one rupee coin,which Maharaj said was very rare and could fetch him crores if he was interested in buying,” said Fatehgunj Police Inspector J R Desai.

Desai said Maharaj charged him Rs 1.24 lakh for the coin.

“The accused took the money from Gadhvi in three instalments. When Gadhvi went to an antique shop,the dealer told him that the coin was common. On January 8,he came to the police station to lodge the complaint.”
