OUTER DELHI: Accused suspected illicit relation between his wife and victim, say police
A man today crushed his neighbour to death with his vehicle after suspecting for long that the latter had an illicit relationship with his wife, the police said.
The incident took place Mongolpuri, Outer Delhi, with Pawan Garg, 30, deliberately knocking down victim Sanjeet Khatra, 25, with his Scorpio, before running it over him at least thrice, witnesses told the police.
Garg, police said, later absconded from the hospital.
The police suspect Garg was waiting for Khatra today, and when he saw the latter on his motorbike (an Enfield Bullet) on the locality road, he broke through the divider and rammed his SUV into the bike. Garg then allegedly reversed the car, with four others in it, and hit him more than once.
With Khatra dead on the spot, Garg ran out of the car and yelled “I have won the battle”, witnesses told the police.
The Gargs and Khatras live on opposite sides of a lane in the Kiradi area.
While Garg runs a utensil store near his house, Khatra had recently applied for a primary teacher’s job after completing a training from a college in Janakpuri, family members said.
Vijender, a betel leaf seller who saw the macabre incident, said Garg’s wife, sisters-in-law and father were in the Scorpio. Too shocked to react at first, locals and passersby soon caught hold of Garg and roughed him up before handing him over to the police, Vijender said. “The locals also broke his car,” he said.
