  • Local residents blocked the Taratolla Road crossing on the Upen Banerjee road for nearly half an hour on Tuesday after a 43-year-old man suffered a broken leg after being hit by a State Roadways bus.

According to police, Debnath Yadav, a resident of Behala, was crossing the road when the bus coming from the CSTC bus depot hit him. He was taken to the Vidyasagar Hospital.

Locals put up a road blockade demanding the arrest of the bus driver and a compensation package for Yadav.

Police later arrested the bus driver, Swapan Kumar Saha, 58, and impounded the bus.
