A Delhi Transport Corporation employee, Maman Singh, allegedly committed suicide at his residence in Kanjhawala on Saturday. Singh, 48, was reportedly stressed after some obscene pictures of his daughter were circulated in the neighbourhood.

According to the police, he consumed poison around 6 pm. He was declared dead on arrival at the Jaipur Golden Hospital in Rohini.

Singh’s family has alleged that Anil Kumar, a local, had been blackmailing them for over a month. “He said he had a CD of my pictures with him and if I did not pay him Rs 50,000, he would circulate them on TV channels and newspapers,” said Singh’s sixteen-year-old daughter.The girl, who is to be married soon, denied any relationship with Kumar. The family claim they had reported the matter to the police, but they did not register a complaint.

Kumar and his family are untraceable. Station House Officer O P Yadav said: “No one has come to register a complaint against Kumar.”
