Unidentified man was allegedly beaten after being caught trying to commit robbery
An unidentified youth was strung up on a tree and beaten to death by residents of Labour colony Janak Puri area on Tuesday night. The shocking incident took place just a few feet away from the area police station.
It has been learnt that the police control room received a message at about 4 am on Wednesday morning that a body of a 30-year-old youth was lying near Balmiki Mandir of the area.
A PCR team reached the spot and requested the people nearby to provide a vehicle to take the injured person to the hospital, however instead of providing help the people threw the body on the road and fled. By the time the PCR team could arrange for a vehicle the youth had died.
SHO Mandeep Singh informed, "When we inquired we were told that this youth had entered the house of one Talwinder Singh
last night. Talwinder claims that this youth was a thief and that when he tried to nab him, the youth attacked him. Soon people began to gather and they tied this youth to a tree and started beating him up with sticks as a result of which the youth died. After killing him the residents threw the body out on the road."
The police have arrested Talwinder Singh after spots of blood were found on the walls of his house. The tree to which this youth was tied is also located inside Talwinder's house and the police found blood marks on the tree too.
The police meanwhile have booked nine unidentified persons along with Talwinder Singh. Identification of these men are own. At the same time the police has circulated the photo of the youth in the nearby areas for identification.
