A mumbai resident, married to a Kashmiri girl from a different community, has moved the Bombay High Court seeking production of his wife allegedly held captive by parents.
The girl,Sabeena Langoo (22) met Ravi Ranjan Tiwari (26),in Pune when the latter was pursuing his MBA,and fell in love. They got married in a temple in Khar on October 8,2009 in accordance with Vedic rites. She converted to Hinduism and changed her name to Anusha.
Sabeenas brothers and other relatives traced them and lured the couple to Srinagar saying Sabeenas father was critically ill and he wanted to see Sabeena before his death.
But,according to Ravis petition, when they reached their hometown,Khanyar, near Shrinagar,he was asked to return and forget the girl.
After a few days Ravi was informed that the family will agree to their relationship if he converts to Islam within 15 days.
Ravi states that he is willing to convert, but he will have to wait for at least a month as the High Court has adjourned hearing on his petition for four weeks. Earlier,Sabeena had moved HC seeking protection against alleged threats from her family members. The court had directed Sakinaka police to provide protection to the couple.
