Man murdered in Dahisar, friend suspect

Inquiries revealed that after all friends left around 11.30 pm, one Ramesh Masadia (20) was seen arriving and leaving within 10 minutes by some residents

A man was found murdered in his flour mill in Dahisar on Saturday morning. Police suspect he was killed by one of his friends and are questioning him.

According to Dahisar police, the body of 40-year-old Phoolchand Yadav was found with head smashed, and a hammer and several bottles of liquor were found near the body.

Yadav, a native of Uttar Pradesh had been staying in Mumbai for the last five years, the police said.

"Yadav ran the mill on the ground floor of Ambika Sadan Society in Dahisar and used to sleep there at night. On Friday night, Yadav and a few of his friends met at his shop after closing time where they drank liquor and had food. We suspect there was argument that led to the murder," said an officer with Dahisar police.

Further inquiries revealed that while all the friends left around 11.30 pm Friday, one of them identified as Ramesh Masadia (20) returned about an hour after midnight. He was seen arriving and leaving within ten minutes by some residents of the building. Around 7 am on Saturday people saw blood that had oozed out through space below the shop's shutters. They alerted police.

A police team reached the spot and opened the shutters to find Yadav's body. He was rushed to Bhagwati Hospital in Borivali where he was declared brought dead.

"We suspect Masadia returned to settle the argument and hit Yadav on the head with the hammer. The reason behind the argument is not yet clear," said senior police inspector Ansar Peerzade, Dahisar police station.

Police said Masadia is not cooperating with the investigations and is being questioned further.
