THE Chandigarh Police has arrested a city resident for allegedly setting his nighbour’s Tata Safari on fire. Police arrested the accused after a case had been registered at police station 34.

Police said that a complaint was lodged by Parvant Devi alleging that her son’s Tata Safari which was parked outside their residence in sector 45 was set on fire by Nadeem,a resident of the same sector this morning,damaging it completely.

During questioning by the police,Nadeem alleged that the windows of his car were broken last night and he suspected that Devi’s son was involved in the attack.

The police said: “It looks like last nights episode,where his car’s windows were broken,angered Nadeem and he retaliated by setting the Tata Safari on fire. But it looks like they had an old animosity also.”

The Police said that they are investigating the case and may also question Devi’s son who according to her mother is out of station.

A case has been registered under section 435 (mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to cause damage),506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the IPC.
