A man was shot dead in a broad daylight by three unknown persons, who managed to escape, in Khadia area of the city, police said.

The incident took place near Bala Hanuman temple in Khadia area, they said.

According to police, the trio gunned down one Pradeep from a close range in the Khadia area. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died during treatment, they added.

"We are in search for the persons who fired the shots and are interrogating the people in the area as the incident occured in broad daylight," Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr K L N Rao, told PTI.

He said that further investigation in the matter was on and they were also looking into the background of Pradeep to get some links in the case.
