The Samta Nagar police are on the lookout for a 45-year-old Thakur Village resident who allegedly stabbed his neighbour on Monday in an argument that ensued after the victim had enquired about the time.
The police said Dayaram Shitlani, of Thakur Sankul in Kandivali (East), was sitting outside his house around 11.30 pm on Monday, when autorickshaw driver Vivek Singh (22) was on his way to his house located a few metres from Shitlani's residence. Shitlani was allegedly in an inebriated condition and got irritated when Singh asked him for the time.
In a fit of rage, the accused allegedly removed a knife from his pocket and stabbed Singh in the stomach two times, the police said. Singh raised an alarm and his younger brother Abhishek (19) came to the spot.
When Abhishek called for help, Shitlani panicked and fled. Residents rushed Singh to Bhagwati Hospital in Borivali, where he has been admitted to the ICU, said the police. "We are trying to trace the accused and have booked him for attempt to murder," said inspector L G Shinde.
