Woman alleges Nair usurped her property given on leave-and-licence basis

The tables appear to have turned on Tulsidas Nair, who has accused former Mumbai Pradesh Congress Committee president Kripashankar Singh of usurping his property.

A week after Bombay High Court ordered a magisterial probe against Singh, a woman claimed the property belonged to her and Nair usurped it.

Lawyer R V Govilkar said Twinder Pal Anand gave the premises to Nair on a leave-and-licence basis.

Anand claimed she was dragged into the dispute after Nair was served an eviction notice.

Nair had sought police protection alleging threat from Singh, who, he said, grabbed his three flats and an equal number of shops.

He said Singh used "muscle power and political clout" to oust him from the properties.

However, Anand said she rented the house in Sundar Nagar, Kalina, to Nair in 2007. When he refused to pay or leave, she obtained an eviction notice.

Justices V M Kanade and P D Kode, however, refused to stay the inquiry against Singh and asked him to file an affidavit. HC said the inquiry report should be submitted by the next hearing on December 4.
