Information Commissioner says Harish Kumar has appeared 100 times before him
He appeared as an RTI petitioner as many as 100 times before authorities. Today,Harish Kumar is the youngest Delhi High Court blast victim to be amputated.
Information Commissioner Shailesh Gandhi remembers Kumar as one who had appeared as an appellant a 100 times before him.
Kumar suffered from multiple fractures in the thigh and lower half of both legs. He underwent an amputation from a little above the ankle to his left feet on Monday.
Kumar is a persistent RTI activist, and he was very interested in improving governance and exposing matters of corruption in MCD. He has appeared before me as an appellant over a 100 times. It is unfortunate that fate had this in store for him, Gandhi said.
The victim’s younger brother said that Kumar had gone to court on a personal property matter on September 7.
He is doing fine after the surgery,it has been two days, and they have already moved him back to the resuscitation room. Doctors have said he will walk fine with an artificial leg,and we have our hopes on that.
He said the family was glad that Kumar had not suffered any permanent problem.
This was an orthopaedic surgery,we are thankful he did not have to undergo any neurosurgery like other victims. He is recovering very well, and we are very happy with the treatment,Kumar’s brother said.
He said Shailesh Gandhi is a friend of the family, and asks for daily updates on Kumars condition.
A senior doctor from the anaesthesia department said doctors were forced to take the step after trying multiple debridement procedures on Kumars legs. Even on Monday morning,we tried a debridement procedure,a surgical cleansing of the wound. But the infection was spreading very fast, and we could not control it. In the afternoon,we had to take him back to the OT and amputate his left feet from the ankle.
