Satish Kondekar, who allegedly raped his niece repeatedly since 2001 and forced her into the flesh trade, allegedly molested her again last month, police said.
The victim had lodged a complaint at D B Marg police station Friday alleging that Kondekar and her cousin Rakesh Kadav had repeatedly raped her in the former's home in Grant Road and forcibly taken her to Bangalore and Gujarat in 2001, where she was forced to have sex with several men, including the accused. In 2009, she managed to escape from their clutches, police said.
Last year, she married another man and after confiding in him, lodged a complaint.
According to police, the victim lived in Kondekar's home near Dreamland Cinema as her parents were too poor to afford a home. Kadav also lived there with his family.
In 1987, the victim's mother passed away, followed by her father 10 years later. A few years later, Kondekar began to prey on her, police said.
"Both the accused and the victim are labourers. Kondekar had adopted the victim when she was a child. We are on the lookout for him and Kadav and are awaiting the victim's medical reports," said assistant inspector Anant Kamble.
After escaping the flesh trade, the victim settled down with her husband in Virar and is pregnant with their first child. Kondekar, however, tracked her down and shifted to Virar. He constantly threatened her, police said. On January 23, he was arrested by police in Virar for molesting the victim and remanded in police custody. He was later released.
At present, both Kondekar and Kadav are at large. Police are also looking for individuals in Bangalore and Gujarat.
