Manan puts Chandigarh in commanding position

Chandigarh stalwart batsman Manan Vohra missed his double-hundred by 21 runs against Patiala when he was caught in the slips on 179 on the second day of the Inter-district Under-22 Cricket Tournament semi-final match being played at Dhruv Pandove Cricket Stadium,Patiala.

Manan’s blistering knock put his team in driver’s seat,as Chandigarh ended the day on a high with a daunting total of 486 for the loss of eight wickets in 190 overs.Resuming at 275 for 3,Chandigarh lost their overnight centurian Manan Vohra with the team’s total reading 310 for 4. Manan who was unbeaten on 157 added another 22 to his individual score before edging Amitoze to be caught by Jeevanjot in the slips for 179 off 298 balls studded with 14 boundaries and 2 sixes. Apart from Vohra,skipper Simrat Bawa played well to score useful 50 runs. Anil Sihag too chipped in with useful knock of 51 runs. From Patiala, Amrinder Singh scalped four wickets.

In the second semi-final being palyed at Jalandhar,carrying forward from overnight score of 255 for 5 Ludhiana went on to score 451 for all in 158.3 overs. Bharat Malhotra who was unbeaten on 35 added another 100 runs notching a century in the process. He smashed 135 of 258 balls. He was given adequate support by brother Lalit Malhotra who also played a brilliant knock of 82. The duo stitched a 166 runs partnership for the sixth-wicket in 51.4 overs. Yogesh Kumar (3 for 85) and Pargat Singh (3 for 23) were the most successful bowlers for Jalandhar. In reply,Jalandhar knocked off 103 for 2 in 29 overs.

Golf summer camp from June 7
The Chandigarh Golf Association (CGA) will be holding its Summer Camp as part of its Junior Training Programme in the month of June. Announcing this J.S. Cheema president CGA said that the Advance Camp will be held from June 7 to 15 at the CGA Golf Range. The camp will be conducted by Jesse Grewal Class A Teaching Professional certified coach who will be assisted by Mahesh Kumar Class B Teaching Professional.
