  • A Mangalore magistrate's court on Wednesday ordered the filing of an FIR against Union Minister for Women and Child Welfare Renuka Chowdhury in a case registered by the Mangalore mayor, BJP's Ganesh Hosabettu, against her.

The Chief Judicial Magistrate's court in Mangalore had on February 16 registered a criminal complaint against the Union minister by the Mangalore mayor and 14 others alleging that the minister's statement 'Mangalore has been Talibanised' had brought disrepute to the city.

The complainants also objected to the minister's statement that ‘there is a clear communal divide in Mangalore where a Hindu girl is prevented from talking to a Muslim boy in Mangalore’.

According to P P Hegde, advocate for the Mayor, a notice had earlier been issued to the minister on behalf of the complainants demanding an apology from Chowdhury within three days.

On Tuesday, during a hearing of the case, the advocate for the complainants demanded the issuance of summons to Chowdhury for personally appearing in court. The minister's remarks amounts to inciting violence and promoting enmity between different religious groups it was argued.

The court had posted the case for orders on Wednesday. The court has asked the police to investigate the matter and take due action.

Mangalore in moral policingBy: Subhash | 28-Feb-2009 Reply | Forward No countries with religious fanaticism and restrain or suppression on sex have grown strong. Moral policing is exactly what Taliban is doing in Afghanistan and Pakistan. We have got another version of that in India. These groups are basically trying to find a way of living. Even if someone is hit his own mother, in politics there will be different opinions. Beyond all opinions it is very clear that Mangalore has brought forth finally it’s stinking filth lying beneath. The credit absolutely goes to BJP. If they have run out of ideas here are some: get as many Kamasoothra copies as possible and burn it in public; make a karseva to khajuravo temples and smash it off like Taliban once did to the ancient Buddhist temples in Afghanistan; kill some couples for intercast marriages; work to bring back Sathi and child marriage…………………….let us keep our culture and tradition intact.

Mangalore has been Talibanised By: Abdul Narayan D'souza | 18-Feb-2009 Reply | Forward I support Union Minister for Women and Child Welfare Renuka Chowdhury when she said "Mangalore has been Talibanised." Why is BJP's Ganesh Hosabettu taking offence to this? And worst of all, why is a magistrate's court ordering an FIR to be filed against Ms. Chowdhury? What the Hindu Talibans did was incorrect. We all, Mr. Hosabettu and the respected magistrate included, know this. Mr. Hosabettu and respected magistrate, your actions only prove that you are part of the Hindu Taliban movement. Shame!! Shame!! Shame!!
Shut Up PakistaniBy: Jamali | 19-Feb-2009 Reply | Forward Shut up you fraud with fake name - Abdul Narayan D'Souza. It is obvious you are a loser Pakistani or Indian Muslim who is Anti-Hindus. Pack your bag and go to your hometown - Swat valley - you belong there.
