Manmohan Singh was on Wednesday appointed Prime Minister for a second consecutive term, for which he will be sworn-in on May 22, after the UPA coalition staked its claim to form the government with the backing of 322 MPs.

Apparently in view of the comfortable numbers the coalition has in the 543-member Lok Sabha, the President has not asked the Prime Minister to prove his strength in the House.

"I have pleasure to appoint you the Prime Minister and request you to advise me on the names of the others to be appointed to the council of ministers. "I propose to administer the oath of office and secrecy to you on Friday, 22nd May 2009 at the Rashtrapati Bhawan at a mutually convenient time," President Pratibha Patil said in her letter handed over to Singh when he called on her along with UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi.

Reading out the President's letter, Singh said "you will come to know in due course of time" when asked whether MPs outside the pre-poll allies would included in the new ministry.

    Dear Dr Manmohan Singhji,

My heartiest felicitations to you on being chosen as the Leader of the Congress Parliamentary Party. External Affirs MinisterBy: C.Dhalsamant | 22-May-2009 Reply | Forward As India`s major external policy is centered on PAKISTAN and the key issue is KASHMIR, it will be appropriate to take Dr.Shaikh Abdulla as Union Cabinet minister for External Affairs. It is the people of India have given a almost clear Mandate to UPA and aspire the KASHMIR issue to be solved while having better relation with Pakistan....I think all will certainly agree that Dr.Abdulla is the right person ho shall have complete faith by all parties, including Pakistanis. It is well known that your paper and columns are accepted with lot of respect by all Indians, the govt included.Hence please suggest the same for the larger benefit of the Country, including Kashmir.RegardsC.Dhalsamant
PMs OF INDIA AND JINX OF 3/6By: MK DAMODARAN | 22-May-2009 Reply | Forward So far,India has had 14 Prime Ministers.Strangely enough, none with birth number 3 or 6 has hitherto become the Prime Minister of India. That is,no person born on 3,6,12,15,21,24 or 30.Mayawai,Jayalalithaa and sharad Pawar belong to this group. So,there is a jinx of number 3/6 in the matter of one becoming PM of India!
Have you ever seen a happy sanghi or taliban?By: DR. PETROL PUMP CHOR | 21-May-2009 Reply | Forward The question regarding Manmohan Singh was placed before the people since they had the right to dismiss him, but on the contrary they voted overwhelming in support of him. But sangi is still crying papa, papa

Dr Singh as PMBy: K B Kale | 21-May-2009 Reply | Forward Now that Hon. APJ Abdul Kalam who is credited, albeit in a hush-hush way, to have stopped Mrs. Sonia Gandhi's march to the Premiership and triggered her famous 'inner voice' and now that we have Mrs. Pratibhatai Patil, a 'Yes, Madam' President from her own party, why not propose Mrs. Gandhi's name for Prime Ministership? She is anyway holding the 'remote control' in her hand! Why this charade of Dr. Singh as a Prime Minister who has no choice but to dance to Mrs. Gandhi’s tune? Remember his famous statement of minorities having first priority over India’s national resources? No Sikh will ever make such a statement unless prodded and poked in the rib by madam and made to say that. K B Kale, Jakarta, Indonesia
