  • Faced with severe criticism for recommending release of Jessica Lall murder case convict Manu Sharma on parole, Delhi government on Tuesday asked police to conduct a thorough probe on whether he violated the parole norms by moving out of Chandigarh and paying a visit here.

A top Delhi government official said as per the parole norms, Sharma should not have been present in Delhi as he was given parole under the condition that he will visit Chandigarh to meet his "ailing" mother.

"We have sought a detailed report from Delhi Police about whether Sharma visited the city," the official said. Asked whether government also wants to know if he visited night clubs in this city, the official said it is immaterial for the government as the parole condition restricts him from coming to Delhi.

Sharma is serving life sentence at Tihar jail for killing model Lall on April 29, 1999 at the Tamarind Court Bar owned by socialite Bina Ramani. The parole decision has kicked up a storm as Sharma had sought release from jail citing the ill-health of his mother Shaktirani Sharma and he was allegedly seen in a night club.

The request for a two-month parole, which ends on November 22, had come from Sharma's family, citing "illness" of Manu's mother.

Manu Sharma's paroleBy: Rajesh Vyas | 10-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward The granting of parole was wrong. There is no need to get intop reasons for grant of parole. The reasons are written all over the walls in DELHI. The point is having granted the parole to this undesrving character and a convicted murderer, let us not waste our time in debating how he is enjoying his time as a free bird. Everyone is aware of Mr. Manu Sharma's political connections with the HIGH and MIGHTY and hence parole was bound to happen. Let us not be surprised if this man's jail term is reduced significantly and he is freed from the jail in the next few days. This is indeed a goal scored for the rich and mighty!!!! Let Ms. Sheila Dixit not plead any ignorance/innocence in the matter. People are not as DUMB as our politicians (LET US NOT CALL THEM OUR LEADERS) believe they are!!!!
unholy nexusBy: B.V.SHENOY | 10-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward This is unquestionable proof that there is an unholy and sinister nexus between the criminal Manu Sharma and the politician Sheila Dixit. It is astounding that Dixit has chosen to forget all the stink this murder case had created against her government earlier and sought to crush public opinion so blatantly!
The law shall take it own Course.By: Anil Kohli | 10-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward 09th Nov 2009. There were three significant incidents occurred, all three were connected to the politicians of India. The new depths that this class is discovering on an almost daily basis, speak volumes of their ability to ignore propriety in public life, offer inane and insensitive arguments, subvert, tarnish and diminish what ever they touch other than their personal assets, which multiply @ of Mach 7 or more. Manu Sharma out on parole! So what? Convicts are entitled to parole, victims have no such rights. We are a democratic country with well defined laws and laid down procedures to be followed. The catch is, the foot note that is appended to each and every law %u201CExcept the framers%u201D We do claim that rule of law is prevalent in India and often hear %u201CLaw shall take it own course%u201D
The law shall take it own Course......1By: Anil Kohli | 10-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward The travesty of this statement is the common man suffers all his life for want of action, the rich and famous escape the long arms of law for the rest of their life for the same want of action. Law shall take it own course, please do explain which is this course, that will ensure justice to the common citizen in this country. The CM of Delhi went to great lengths to explain the how the system works, yet she did not explain how on earth the basis of parole for a murder convict could be to attend to his Business needs. Bizarre that the state! Should be more concerned about the health of the convict%u2019s business? Rather than the sentence that he must undergo, for a heinous crime such as murder. Here again the politician cannot be held accountable, the people of Delhi after all re-elected the same government for the 3rd time in succession, so all previous sins were washed away and a fresh start.
Re: AnilBy: XXXXXX | 10-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Yes, it will be wrong blaming politicians alone. IAS-IPS-ASI-Constables-we the people etc=> evryone is jointly responsible. Had it been a case with some of my family members from Manu Sharma, i would have waited for him to come out of parole and get him killed. That is the quickest way to get rid of such raskals. True nature of women power can be see in his mother and Sheila Dick-Shit. We are daily achieving a new low everyday.
Congress is a curse on this nationBy: Anil Kohli | 10-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward The fact of the matter is Politicians take the decisions and set the goals. Then it is the job of the people carefully placed in each and every department who ensure that the needful is done. Those who are at the lowest rung get punished if and when thing turn out bad. For last 40years I have been hearing of scams and politicians being corrupt how many of them have been punished so far. This in itself establishes that they can get away with anything. Law will take it own course. Yes agreed, please tell us which is that course.
ParoleBy: Raj | 10-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward If all the murderers could be given parole as liberally as to Manu Sharma our jails would have been less crowded. This is Indian democracy's double face. One set of laws for commner and another for VIPs. This guy should be sent back to Tihar ASAP. Thanks
