BLAMING the centre and Chhattisgarh government for the ongoing violence in tribal Bastar region, outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoist) has said that hundreds of cadres of its military wing Peoples Liberation Guerilla Army (PLGA) had attacked the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel at Dhaudai in Narayanpur district, killing 27 security personnel on June 29.
We have lost our three commanders in the successful operation during which our cadres snatched ammunitions and 23 modern weapons, including eight AK 47 rifles, eight INSAS rifles, three SLR,two two-inch mortar and two light machine guns (LMG) CPI (Maoist) Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee spokesman Gudsa Usendi said in a statement sent to the local media in Bastar late last night.
The statement said two PLGA platoon commanders Bantu and Shankar and a section commander Ramesh were killed during the attack.
CPI (Maoist) also described the continuing attacks on CRPF as the outcome of the repressive measures being adopted by the centre and the state government under its ongoing operation green hunt. The rebel group reiterated their charge that the atrocities were being committed on the poor tribals of Bastar.
The statement blamed a section of the media for overlooking the atrocities being committed on the tribals and becoming part of the government propaganda against the Maoists. Referring to the May 18 incident in which the rebels blew up a bus in Konta block in Dantewada district,Usendi said its cadres had targeted the bus as Special Police Officers (SPOs) were travelling on top of the bus and without realizing that civilians were travelling in the bus.
CPI (Maoist) Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee has already apologized to the people of Bastar for this mistake, the statement said still a section of media was propagating that Maoists had deliberately targeted the civilians.
The statement said Maoists would stop attacks only after operation green hunt was called off and all para-military forces were withdrawn from the tribal areas.
