Naxalites struck terror in Orissa’s Malkangiri and riot-hit Kandhamal districts on Saturday night blowing up a police outpost with landmines and attacking a Bajrang Dal activist.

Around 20 armed cadres of CPI(Maoist) on Saturday attacked the Mahupadar police outpost under Mathili police station of Malkangiri district and asked the two constables on duty to leave. “The Maoists blew up the outpost using landmines. They also burnt two motorcycles near the building,” Malkangiri SP Satyabrata Bhoi said. However,no one was injured.

Police said the Maoists might have blown up the outpost as it was to be used by the anti-Naxal Special Operations Group police. The ultras raised slogans in favour of the CPI-Maoist.

In Kandhamal’s Raikia block,Maoists fired at Bajrang Dal activist Dilu Mohanty when he was returning home in his truck on Sisapanga-Gumandi road. He,however, escaped unhurt.
