Maoists blow up school building in Jharkhand

Maoists have blown up a school building at Manjiladih in Jharkhand’s Giridih district,police said on Tuesday.

Maoists have blown up a school building at Manjiladih in Jharkhand’s Giridih district,police said on Tuesday.

A group of Maoists went to Manjiladih Primary School under Dumri police station late last night and triggered a blast to destroy the three-room school,district Superintendent of Police Ravi Kant Dhan said.

A police team has been rushed to the spot,he added.

Maoists have been attacking schools to prevent security forces from using them as shelters during their anti-naxal operations.

According to reports,Maoist have also pasted posters in the district calling for a poll boycott.

Jharkhand goes for a five-phase election from tomorrow with assembly segments in Giridih district scheduled on December 2 and 8.
