Maoists might have safe hideouts in Delhi: Police

“We believe that this arrest will lead to more arrests of naxal leaders. We are on the trail of some of them,” a senior police official said.

Investigators claimed that Gandhi,who is in charge of spreading the organisation’s influence in urban areas,was frequenting the city for the past three years and had one or two safe hideouts to coordinate activities in New Delhi.

Gandhi had complained about cardiac problem on Monday after he was sent to one-day judicial custody by a duty magistrate.

A medical check-up was conducted by doctors of G B Pant Hospital on Tuesday and later he was produced before Chief Judicial Magistrate Kaveri Baweja,who extended the judicial remand till October six.

Gandhi was also in charge of the sub committee on mass organisations,spreading its influence in the urban areas and publication wing. He was also allegedly in touch with foreign extreme Left organisations to get international recognition.

His wife Anuradha,also a top Maoist leader,died in April this year due to Malaria.
