Marathi comedian Bharat Jadhav launches website,turns blogger

Popular Marathi comedian Bharat Jadhav has turned a blogger on his recently launched website.

Popular Marathi comedian Bharat Jadhav has turned a blogger on his recently launched website. “A need to communicate with people and fans home and abroad was felt strongly. The website is an outcome of this need and the two-year-long efforts that went into prepare it,” said Bharat Jadhav.
“Though I am not the first Marathi actor to come up with a website,for sure I am the only one to have a personalised blog,” the noted comedian claimed. Bharat is enthusiastic about the response to his blog on the website designed by an Australian company.
“The response to my blogs is ‘solid’. It has proved to be a great medium for me to connect with my fans and answer their queries or solicit opinion from them when needed,” he said.

According to the actor,the web portal would also help him to take his comedy show,Hasa Chatakfu,staged in association with actor Ankush Choudhary and filmmmaker Kedar Shinde,worldwide.
“Now,people from the world over can contact us through my website. It provides a proper and easy access,” he said. Bharat,who has acted in Hindi movies like Vaastav,Pran Jaaye Par Shaan Naa Jaaye,is better known for his play Sahi Re Sahi,one of the most successful Marathi plays ever. In a career spanning over 25 years,he has acted in several Marathi movies including the recent Ringa Ringa and Shikshanachya Aaicha Gho.

Jadhav,however,is not really keen to join the league of netizen-actors on social networking sites like Twitter. “It becomes difficult to manage contacts for an actor on social networking sites. So currently,I would like to remain connected to my fans through my website only,” he added. The actor’s upcoming movies, as revealed on the website,include Jhing Chik Jhing,Kalshekar Aahet Ka? and Kay Karu Kasa Karu.

Mrinal Sen’s Khandahar at Cannes
Eminent filmmaker Mrinal Sen’s 1983 classic Khandahar,starring Naseeruddin Shah,Shabana Azmi and Pankaj Kapur,is to be screened at the Cannes Film Festival in May. The veteran director will be present during the film’s screening that he has written as well as directed. Last year,his retrospective of the Calcutta Trilogy was cancelled at Cannes as the prints were too poor. It was the Prime Minister’s Office that ordered the I&B Ministry to specially restore the prints of the classics Khandahar,Baishe Sravan,Akash Kusum,Bhuvan Shome,Interview,Calcutta 71 and Padatik,Kharij. They were also digitalised with Dolby sound by the National Film Archives. Khandahar had won accolades at Cannes in 1983. However,when contacted,Mrinal Sen refused to divulge details.

Malayalam cinema’s first heroine M. K. Kamalan no more
M. K. Kamalan,who was the heroine of the first Malayalam talkie Balan,died at her residence in Kottayam district near Thiruvananthapuram on April 20. The 86-year-old actress was not keeping well for some time. She is survived by three daughters. Her husband V. K. Damodaran died a few years ago. Though her film career was short-lived,Kamalan created history by doing the lead female role in the first talkie,Balan,produced in 1938 by Modern Theatres,Salem. Kerala Chief Minister V. S. Achuthanandan and Culture Minister M. A. Baby condoled the death of Kamalan.
