Sena chief Bal Thackeray said the 'Marathi manoos' should explain reasons for not voting for the party.

Upset over the poor show of the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance in traditional strongholds of Mumbai and Thane, Sena chief Bal Thackeray on Monday said the 'Marathi manoos' should explain reasons for not voting for the party.

"The saffron march continued in rest of the state but Mumbai and Thane have given me pain at this age," the 82-year-old Thackeray said in an editorial comment in Sena mouthpiece 'Saamana'.

Without naming nephew and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) President Raj Thackeray, the Sena chief said "Congress took help of Suryaji Pisal to divide Marathi votes."

Suryaji Pisal was a renegade Maratha who in 1689 opened the defences of the Raigad fort to the besieging Mughal invaders.

The Marathi voter, who strayed away from the Sena, should explain to us why he did so and what harm had Shiv Sena done to him, Thackeray said.

Congress indulged in the British policy of divide and rule and Marathi people fell prey to it, Thackeray rued.

Thackeray's comments follow reports that presence of MNS candidates in the Lok Sabha elections was the main reason for the defeat of Sena-BJP candidates in Mumbai and neighbouring Thane.

BJP By: Prince | 02-Oct-2009 Reply | Forward In the recent Election Mr. Advani delivering speech once our party win then we will build Ram Mandir. We will establish Hindi tradition and all. My openion is that the person who is going to get selected to run this India not his religion. such people is really narrow minded and hinders our country growth. such act comes in riot between our relegion and sabotage our traditional values and culture. Leader should be civilized and sagacious to handle all diversity and resolve the problem of our counrty. Thank you

Nice one...but won't fly!By: Ganesh | 19-May-2009 Reply | Forward Dilip/vindaloo france....dude! get off your 3 legged horse and walk the walk. It's game over and the BJP is seriously a car without a steering wheel. Throwing your ifs/buts 'fuzzy logic' of how the congress might fail and the bjp might swing around and reconquer with thier communal rhetoric, is pure drivel. At least Advani showed some grace in defeat unlike you armchair supporters who puke out their fanatical sore-loser gibberish. I'd reccomend you write your BS on sites like the CNN or FOX who will buy your kind of emotional venting when faced with the truth. So for now, go lick those wounds and while you're at it, stop fuming like a bad loser.
Mr. Deepak Shirole - I respect your comments By: Naim Naqvi | 18-May-2009 Reply | Forward Aurangzeb and Shiva Ji were icons of our common heritage. You don't expect me to understand Marathi Manoos. Fine, to answer your comment, I have lived the best part of my life in Bombay and I relate to Bombay more than any city. I have the best and the closest of relations and friends in Bombay. I love my Bombay without the bias of Amchi Mumbai. Coming to Aourangzeb, I would like you to read books written by some dispassionate historians, and there are plenty of them. If you are staying in Bombay, just drive down to Khuldabad, a town of Sufis and Saints, only few miles from Aourangabad and very near to Ellora Caves. Look for yourselves the majesty in the simplicity and austerity of the grave of this much maligned and misunderstood ruler of India. Do you know that his empire covered biggest area than any Chakravarti or Moghal empires? Sometimes it helps to see without colored glasses. Thakrey Clan has got few jobs for their benighted and bought followers and that's all to their credit.
