March showers expected in city today

The city received light showers on Monday and witnessed cloudy weather on Tuesday.

The city received light showers on Monday and witnessed cloudy weather on Tuesday. Met Department officials said some areas might receive light showers on Wednesday as well.

The Met officials said the showers were a usual feature before the summer. “It is not unusual to see showers in March,” said director (weather) central Medha Khole.

The Met has attributed the showers to the trough extending from South Konkan to Kerala coast. The moisture laden winds from Bay of Bengalhas caused clouding .

In the last few days the maximum temperature has been hovering around 32-35 degrees. “The condition would continue for another couple of days,” said Khole.

The Met department said the showers will be witnessed in south madhya Maharashtra,Marathwada,Tamil Nadu,coastal and south interior Karnataka and Kerala. On Monday,Parbhani recorded 11 mm rainfall,Udgir 5 mm rainfall and Satara recorded 3 mm. The Met department said the city is likely to witness some light showers in the coming days.
