The MCM College campus has three brand-new hot spots — podiums where students can explore their creative instincts. Here’s where much music is made, new authors discussed and read, brain-storming sessions conducted... it’s the students’ personal space, where they can breathe easy. “We wanted to give them a place where they can learn and interact at the same time, far from the madding crowd,’’ smiles Puneet Bedi, the principal. It’s here that BA-I students Parul Khera, Shivani Sharma and Prasanahit Johar are strumming the guitar. “I am finally getting to learn the basics of the instrument and here we find both space and silence to enjoy the music,” says Khera. Taran Guron, a BA-II student, found her love for anchoring on one of these stages. “During the one-hour novel reading sessions I discovered I could talk really well.’’
SGGS College, Sector 26, is all set to dedicate a floor in the all-new Students’ Centre, where students can do their own thing, without any intrusion from the faculty. “The space will give them much-needed break from studies and prove to be relaxing as well,’’ Navjot, a faculty member takes us to the floor which has been designed aesthetically as well. “We now don’t have to spend time on roads or restaurants. Here’s where we jam now,” Ritesh’s happy that they’re also saving pocket money in the process. At DAV College, Sector 10, students can use the manicured lawns for chilling out in-between classes, while Government College, Sector 11, has created a sculpture garden for them. “This one’s a writers’ paradise,” agrees Aparna Kaushal. To more creative beginnings!
