The police have been successful in nabbing one of the three accused for the murder of a mason.
Om Parkash, a migrant who worked as a mason in the city, was murdered on August 28. He was stabbed in the stomach in broad daylight. At the time of the murder, the police had suspected extra-marital affair to be the cause of the crime.
Sub-Inspector Ajaib Singh said, "We had come to know that Om Parkash had a relationship with his neighbour Vinod Kumar's wife. Vinod knew that his wife and Om Parkash were seeing each other. Vinod and his brother-in-law Santosh had tried to reason it out with Om Parkash, who was not ready to end the relationship."
Although Om Parkash shifted to another area and started living with another friend, he would keep coming to Vinod's house to meet his wife in his absence. "Om Parkash's family had fixed his marriage with another girl but he insisted that despite his wedding, he would continue to live with Vinod's wife. Vinod was very angry. Along with Santosh and Suresh, a friend, he decided to kill Om Parkash," added Singh.
On the day of the crime, Vinod, Santosh and Suresh caught Om Prakash when he had come to meet Vinod's wife. While the police have arrested Santosh, the other two accused are still absconding. Santosh was presented in a local court on Sunday and was remanded in police custody.
