Maya gave in to UPA pressure, says BJP

The BJP accused Chief Minister Mayawati of denying permission to Baba Ramdev to stage his protest in Uttar Pradesh under pressure from the Congress-led UPA government.

The BJP on Monday accused Chief Minister Mayawati of denying permission to Baba Ramdev to stage his protest in Uttar Pradesh under pressure from the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre.

On Sunday, the police had turned back Ramdev from the state’s border with Uttarakhand because he did not have permission to hold a protest in Noida.

State BJP president Surya Pratap Shahi said,“On Sunday morning,Mayawati condemned the police crackdown on Baba Ramdev in Delhi and urged the Supreme Court to take suo motu cognizance of the incident, and by the evening she did a U-turn and Baba Ramdev was not allowed to enter the state.”

“I would like to know from the Chief Minister what were her compulsions for denying permission to Baba Ramdev for holding his protest in Noida. If he can do the same peacefully in Delhi, why can’t he be allowed to do it in UP,” asked Shahi.

By her action,Mayawati had proved that she was one with the Congress on issues of black money and corruption,he said. “Mayawati followed the diktats of the Congress since she herself is under investigation by the CBI,” said Shahi.

He said in the past also, both the SP and the BSP had bailed out the UPA government on corruption issue.

“The most recent case is the report of the Public Accounts Committee of the Lok Sabha headed by Murli Manohar Joshi, when both the SP and BSP came to the rescue of the Congress.”
