Continuing the district inspection tour to know the ground realities about her governance,Chief Minister Mayawati on Saturday visited Muzaffarnagar,Bijnore and Saharanpur districts in Western UP parts.
During her visit to Muzaffaranagar,the CM reviewed the law and order situation and expressed her unhappiness over the failure of the police to curb crime falling under the areas of Kairana police circle of the district. She asked the Circle Officer and Station House Officers concerned to either perform or face action. She has directed the SSP/DIG of Muzaffarnagar to put an effective check on the crime graph.
Reports reaching here from Muzaffarnagar said a group of SP workers was planning to lodge their protest during the CMs visit there. However,the police took them under custody. They were released only after Mayawatis departure from the district, a source in Muzaffarnagar said.
The chief minister also personally saw the crime register kept in the Civil Line police station and reviewed the progress in the investigation of different cases. Later,she reached Gangeru,which is under the category of Ambedkar village,and personally saw the development projects undertaken in the village. She collected feedback about the distribution of mid-day meal from the students after visiting schools in the village.
In Bijnore,she was happy with the works undertaken by DM A V Rajamouli and SSP Mahesh Kumar Mishra. She also directed the officers concerned to keep the records properly in the Sadar Tehsil of Bijnore district. She also saw the register containing details of the public grievances received during Tehsil Diwas and asked the officers to enter more details such as dates of the disposal of the public grievances. She reached the Kotwali police station in Bijnore and collected information about the cases that is received on the Thana Diwas.
In Saharnapur,she reached Mirzapur (Ambedkar village) and reviewed the revenue records of the village. She supervised the village roads and houses built under Indira Awas Yojana.
Two days on,no FIR against BSP MLA who slapped cop
Even two days after the attack on a police constable by BSP MLA Haji Yakub Qureshi and his aides during his duty hours,the Meerut police have yet to lodge an FIR in the matter.
The constable,Chahan Singh Balyan,who got admitted in a private hospital following an angina pain on Friday evening,is stated to be stable. When inquired about the delay in registering a case,Special DG (Law & Order) Brij Lal said,I am not aware about the matter.
The DGP,Karamvir Singh,was contacted several times for his comment over the issue,but he kept replying that he was busy in a meeting.
However,Meerut DIG Jai Narain Singh said,We are busy in arrangement for the Chief Ministers visit in the district scheduled for tomorrow. The SP (City) was handed over the inquiry in the matter yesterday which is yet to be completed. A decision over lodging of an FIR would be taken after the report is submitted tomorrow after CMs visit.
Meanwhile,constables son Deepak told The Indian Express this evening that the SP (City) or any other police official has not visited his father so far to record his statement while the inquiry by the DIG was ordered on Friday. He also said,My father has decided to tender his resignation from the police services if any action was not initiated against the MLA and his men who manhandled him and tore off his uniform.
Deepak added,The Reserve Inspector (RI) of the Meerut Police Lines,RL Niranjan visited my father late this evening. Niranjan stayed with him for over two hours and kept convincing him to withdraw his complaint against the MLA and settle a compromise with him. But,my father maintained his decision to either get a case registered into the matter or he would send his resignation to the Chief Minister and the DGP.
When contacted,the RI refused to comment over the issue. The Meerut Range IG,Rajni Kant Misra also said that the SP (City) has been asked to find out facts into the matter and an appropriate action can be initiated only on the basis of the actual findings. When inquired about the constables decision for tendering his resignation,the IG said,The constable has not made any such decision so far.
Chahan Singh Balyan was manhandled by MLA Qureshi and his men when the constable had asked them to divert their vehicles for Ravidas Jayanti procession on Thursday evening.
