Intensifying her campaign against the Samajwadi Party government,BSP chief Mayawati Friday met Governor B L Joshi and requested him to recommend Presidents rule in Uttar Pradesh.
In a memorandum to the governor,Mayawati alleged that Uttar Pradesh is witnessing a constitutional crisis as most cabinet members and those given the rank of minister have criminal record and are still continuing those activities.
The Akhilesh Yadav regime,Mayawati told the governor, has not only failed to ensure security of life and property of people, the first priority of any government, but also to maintain social and communal harmony.
So the Governor, she requested, should recommend Presidents rule in the state, where government cannot be run as per provisions of the constitution.
The former chief minister listed several alleged cases of murder, dacoity and crime against women and claimed that FIRs were not registered in many other similar cases.
She alleged the SP government was harassing officers. The state government, she said, ridiculed the constitutional decorum by keeping several constitutional posts such as those in commissions for SCs/STs,minorities and women vacant for about a year before the high court intervened.
