  • Chief Minister Mayawati on Tuesday wrote to Union Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal, asking him to withdraw his proposal to raise the eligibility for joint entrance examination for IITs from 60 to 80 per cent in Class XII boards.

Describing the proposal as “anti-student”, Mayawati said the future of a large number of students would be in dark if this condition was imposed.

She claimed the proposal protects the interests of only those belonging to the higher classes and shows little concern for students from the common strata. Such a restrictive proposal is neither in the interest of the country, nor students at large, the CM added.

Haha!!!By: Himanshu | 21-Oct-2009 Reply | Forward All the quota kings and queens have got their knickers in a twist! What Mr. Sibal neglected to mention was that the 80% cut-off is only for general category students. Those belonging to 'vote banks' will doubtless be required to score 33%. After all, Sibal-ji panders to the same vote banks as you do, Maya-ji.So chill.
