He has ordered Kamaljeet Kaur, assistant town planner, Zone A, to finalise the survey report of Chaura Bazaar encroachments

Continuing with his tough stand on encroachments, Mayor Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria on Monday met the shopkeepers of Chaura Bazaar and rejected their demand to allow rehris at the market.

"The mayor clearly told the shopkeepers that encroachments would not be given a nod at any cost," said a source, who was present at the meeting. "The material lying inside your shops is yours and whatever lies outside will be ours."

The mayor also has plans to visit the highly encroached Chaura Bazaar market and get the area cleared. The meeting was a chance given to the shopkeepers to present their case, added the source.

The mayor has ordered Kamaljeet Kaur, assistant town planner, Zone A, to finalise the survey report of Chaura Bazaar encroachments and submit it at the earliest so that action could be taken on it.
