The Municipal Corporation approved a budget of Rs 812.92 crore for the financial year 2011-12 on Monday. T
This includes Rs 429.98 crore under the Plan head,Rs 233.40 crore under the Non-Plan head and Rs 149.54 crore as its own receipts. The budget along with suggestions of the councillors will be sent to the UT Administration for approval.
The civic body also has Rs 573.02 crore from last year that will be transferred to this years allocation,increasing the total funds available with the MC to Rs 1,385.94 crore.
The sector-wise allocation:
Roads: An amount of Rs 35 crore has been allocated for the development of roads under the MC. To widen V3,V5 and V6 roads and to make footpaths for pedestrians,Rs 49 crore has been earmarked.
Parking: Rs 1 crore has been earmarked for improvement in the condition of paid parking lots. The city will see multilevel parking lots in Sectors 9,17 and 34. A sum of Rs 1.25 crore has been allocated for community parking lots in various sectors.
Beautification: MC has made a provision of Rs 15 crore for landscaping. This will include development and maintenance of greenbelts in various sectors. Installation of play equipment for children will be done in the new greenbelts recently transferred to the civic body from the UT Administration.
Primary education: A provision of Rs 19 crore has been made for primary education. With 18 new primary schools on the agenda,nine will be constructed in 2011-12 and the remaining in the next financial year.
Primary health: The Administration has transferred primary healthcare to the MC and Rs 16.62 crore has been allocated for this. While some primary health centres have been transferred,others will be constructed. A 30-bed Ayush Hospital at Maloya I and 100-bed maternity hospital at Maloya II have been proposed.
Water supply: Funds have been allocated for the Water Supply Scheme Phase VII and VIII. Land will be acquired for the purpose and pipelines laid. To tide over water woes in Manimajra,a provision of Rs 50 lakh has been made.
Civic work: Rs 25 crore has been allocated,which will include construction and repair of community centres,construction of banquet halls,bus queue shelters and construction of a Mahila Bhawan. A multi-purpose convention hall will be made too. For non-residential buildings,Rs 7 crore has been allocated.
Development of villages,rehabilitation colonies: Rs 5.29 crore has been allocated to upgrade facilities in rehabilitation colonies. A sum of Rs 10.15 crore has been earmarked for villages. There is a demand from the councillors to increase this amount to ensure overall development of the colonies and villages.
Sewerage system and storm water drainage: Rs 29 crore has been allocated to upgrade the sewerage system. And to tackle the problem of waterlogging,Rs 21 crore has been approved. A sewerage treatment plant will be constructed at Diggian.
