Narendra Modi’s deputy Amit Shah heads to Ayodhya,’prays’ for Ram temple ‘soon’

This was Shah's first official visit to Ayodhya after being appointed in-charge of UP

Amit Shah,BJP general secretary in charge of Uttar Pradesh and a close aide of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi,raked up the Ram temple issue during a visit to Ayodhya on Saturday.

Shah,who visited the makeshift Ram temple at the disputed site,said: “I came to visit the Ram temple which is a centre of faith for crores of Hindus from around the world… I have prayed that good governance is established in the country and the nation gets rid of the Congress. I have also prayed that we together build a grand Ram temple here as soon as possible and restore Lord Ram to his rightful place.”

This was Shah’s first official visit to Ayodhya after being appointed in-charge of UP. He later attended a party meeting which was held in the Karsevakpuram area. BJP sources said the meeting venue was chosen to send a message to the cadres on the Ram temple issue.
