Shravan Kumar, a 25-year-old student of Automotive Engineering at Melbourne’s Cambridge International College, is battling for life after he and three of his friends from Andhra were attacked by a group of teenagers at their home on Tuesday.

While Shravan was critically injured after one of the boys attacked him with a screwdriver, his friends—A Kiran, Subhash and Sandip—escaped with minor injuries. Abusing them, the attackers also asked them to leave Australia. While Shravan is still in hospital, his roommates, all students of cookery, have moved out of the house.

Meanwhile, External Affairs Minister S M Krishna said India would “impress upon” the Australian authorities that such attacks “should not be permitted” and it is their “responsibility” to ensure the well-being of Indian students. Sujatha Singh, India’s High Commissioner

in Canberra, has rushed to Melbourne to take stock of the situation.

Shame for AussiesBy: Sam | 31-May-2009 Reply | Forward I was an international student too and saw many of these activities hapening for no reason. But i don't deny that some of our boys sometime start these activities by talking in their own laguage but finger pointing on other person. All i can say to those boys and girls who come late at night is always come in a group, and if anyone ask for money or smokes since few junkies are tht poor to buy their own, fight back. Don't forget that india is not under australia or any country. If any person start fight, fight back or jus run and call cops.Aussie ppl shud understand tht if we come in aus, its for their benifit else we al knw tht every where in world indians r shining. Last things " If you respect others, you'l get respect but if u dont get respect back, then dont hesitate to fight back.I pray to god that This fellow gets well soon.
It's a shameBy: kunal | 30-May-2009 Reply | Forward This is a shameful act. Shameless people can only do such sort of thing. This act will not be tolerated by anyone and is disgrace to humanity. Some people are suggesting that indians should hide their identity but for what? There is nothing wrong in speaking in punjabi, hindi, or gujrati or whatever. You should try to change the way they think about indians. Being indian, or australian is not a big deal. The only thing which matters is humanity. This racism can not be stopped if you do not want to think beyond nations, religions, casts, and communities. So grow up.
kuthaBy: kutha singh | 29-May-2009 Reply | Forward Time to fight back. Hit them before they hit you. Let them think twice about attacking you. Be intelligent about it, and do not get caught.

They never ever issue any receipt of the fee charged for the services they are the biggest exploiter of indians in australia.
