Royal honour
Shah Rukh Khan was presented the Royal Medal of Honour at the 12th Marrakech International Film Festival by Prince Moulay of Morocco.
The good picture
Vidya Balan's portrayal of South sex symbol Silk Smitha in The Dirty Picture received rave reviews from critics and viewers alike. The icing on the cake came when the actor received the esteemed National Award for Best Actress for her
riveting performance.
'B'eeline of honours
Amitabh Bachchan was the proud recipient of several awards by various national and international organisations and governments. To begin with, the actor was felicitated by the Australian Government by its Embassy in Mumbai. He was conferred the Polio Eradication Champion award by Rotary International, received a special tribute at the 12th Marrakech International Film Festival, was honoured at the River to River2012 Indian film festival in Florence, FICCI Frames 2012 excellence award and the list goes on.
Anupam's silver lining
It was a big year for actor Anupam Kher, who made a successful imprint on the global platform. Besides a series of tie ups in Australia for his famous play Kuch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai with leading Australian film organisations and individuals, Kher also starred in Hollywood film Silver Linings Playbook, which has been garnering rave reviews. The film, which won the People's Choice Award at the Toronto International Film Festival has also been nominated for the Screen Actors Guild awards and the Golden Globes. Kher has been nominated for the Screen Actors Guild Awards for 'outstanding performance by a cast', alongside Hollywood biggies Robert De Niro, Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence.
