A woman journalist was allegedly molested and verbally abused by two unidentified men in Northeast Delhi while she was returning home after work.
According to police, the incident happened in Surya Nagar in Northeast Delhi. The woman was on a moped, heading home to Mansarovar Park from her office in Okhla in Southeast Delhi.
The woman said around 9 pm, she stopped at a traffic signal and noticed two men on a motorcycle eyeing her.
"They were not wearing helmets. When the light turned green, one of them suddenly grabbed my hand and tried to pull me towards him. I managed to break free and tried to speed away but the men hit my Scooty thrice," she told Newsline over phone.
According to the woman, there was a lot of traffic on the road at that time. There was also a police barricade near the Seemapuri underpass.
"Despite the barricade and three-four policemen manning it, the men managed to escape.
The police may not have known that the two were trying to molest me but they should have at least been stopped for not wearing helmets. That would have got their motorcycle number in police records," she said.
Some distance ahead, at the barricade put up near Mansarovar Park Metro station, she spotted the duo again.
This time she decided to seek help from policemen near the barricade and stopped her moped. The men then sped towards her, tried to pull her hand, dragged her and the Scooty. She sustained injuries in her arm.
"The men pushed me and fled. The policemen came to my help but I returned home on my own. When I approached the police station to register a complaint later, they told me that I should not be out so late," the journalist said.
