  • Although civic officials said that the water situation remained worrisome, decision to impose additional 10% water cut will be taken by the civic standing committee which is scheduled on Monday. In the present situation, the total water storage through the six lakes can be sufficed for other 15 days.

However, the rainfall resulted in waterlogging in low lying areas. But there were no major complaints of traffic snarls. The Central Railway had delayed local train services between 9.00 am and 12.00 pm due to flooding of tracks at Kurla, Sion, Matunga and Chunnabhatti.

“We had given directives to drive the trains in slow speed. This resulted in 15-minute delay for every service,” said chief PRO Srinivas Mudgerikar.

Meanwhile, the BMC’s disaster management department informed that a 40-year-old woman, identified as Manjula Kandaswami Devendra from Shivajinagar, Govandi, died after receiving an electric shock. Ten-year-old Abdul Samad Khan, who was along with the woman, was also injured and is currently in hospital.
