
The steps become significant considering the attack by terrorists on the Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore on March 3, which killed six policemen and injured seven players and officials. In a similar incident, during the 1972 Munich Olympics, terrorists had killed eleven Israeli athletes and coaches and one police officer.
Sources said the STF would take action in coordination with Central intelligence agencies to foil activities or plans of anti-social elements having bearing on the security of the Games and the participants.
