Mild tremor in Jamnagar

  • A mild tremor measuring 2.8 on the Richter scale was felt near the Vijarakhi village in south of the city on Monday morning, the officials of the state Seismology Department said.

    "The epicentre of the tremor measuring 2.8 on the Richter scale was some 15 km south-east of Jamnagar town near Vijarakhi village," said director, Institute of Seismology, Gandhinagar, Dr B K Rastogi.

    "The tremor was felt around 8:19 am and lasted a few seconds," he added.

    District officials who rushed to the village to take stock of the situation said the tremor did not cause any damage.
