It was on October 25, last year when ABG, the only agency that used to do mechanical loading and unloading jobs in berths no 2 and 8, at the port stopped its operations.
Another person who lost his job is Anil Goldar, a resident of Haldia Township. "My wife is unwell. But I cannot take her to a doctor. The person who is responsible for our plight is Suvendu Adhikari, (the MP from Tamluk). He was the man who threw ABG out,'' Goldar said.
Adhikari vehemently denies the allegations. On Thursday, he said those protesting were CPM and Congress workers. "They were not former employees of ABG. They were out to disrupt the summit,'' Adhikar today said.
But the protesters showed their identity cards and also the text messages from ABG."Adhikari is lying. We have kept our ID cards," said Rahman.
