Miley Cyrus’ song ‘The Climb’ no longer up for Grammy

American singer Miley Cyrus’ song ‘The Climb’ has been removed from the Grammy race.

American singer Miley Cyrus’ song ‘The Climb’,which is a single from her ‘Hannah Montana: The Movie soundtrack’,has been removed from the Grammy race.

The song, which had been written by Jessi Alexander and Jon Mabe, had received a Grammy nod for best song written for a soundtrack.

But it was unexpectedly announced on December 10 that the tune has been pulled because it was not specifically penned for the movie, thereby making it ineligible for the award.

The nomination will now go to “All Is Love”,by Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. The song — which received the next highest number of votes — was written for ‘Where the Wild Things Are’.

The Grammy site does reflect the change, but a spokesperson for O’s label confirmed the news to MTV.

“In an unexpected twist, one of the announced Grammy candidates for Best Song written for a Soundtrack has been disqualified after the fact,” Us magazine quoted Matt LaMotte,of O’s label Interscope Geffen A&M,as saying in a statement.

“The nomination then goes to the song with the next-highest initial vote count, which is Karen O and the Kids’ ‘All Is Love’,” he added.
