An unidentified militant was killed in a gun battle with security forces in Gurez area of Bandipora district in Jammu and Kashmir,defence sources said here. Troops of 36 Rashtriya Rifles spotted an armed militant in Razdan pass on Bandipora-Gurez road,100 kms from here during a routine patrol,the sources said. They said the militant opened fire on the soldiers,who retaliated. In the ensuing encounter,the militant was killed,the sources added. One AK rifle,a magazine and a map was recovered from the possession of the slain militant,whose identity and group affiliation could not be ascertained so far,the sources said.
