Unidentified militants ambushed the convoy of the Election Commission's observers in central Assam's North Cachar Hills district on Wednesday morning, police said.
As soon as the vehicles of poll observer A P Singh and his team were passing through the area, the militants fired a volley of bullets at them, they said.
However, none was injured in the attack, according to preliminary reports, police said, adding that the convoy was moving towards Umrangsho when they faced the ultras at Jungum, about 20 km from Haflong. Intelligence agencies have warned of increased threats to Advani.
