Militants kill 2,injure 4 in Assam

Suspected militants of Dima Halam Daogah faction struck twice,killing two police officers and injuring four others in Haflong town.

A day after the attack on a passenger train,suspected militants of Dima Halam Daogah (Jewel) faction struck twice on Saturday,killing two police officers and injuring four others in Haflong town of Assam’s North Cachar Hills district.

The attackers fired at a goods train,killing two police officers and injuring a constable,and hours later carried out a grenade attack near a BSF camp.

Three persons were injured and a statue of Dimasa freedom fighter Sambudhan Phanglo,which stood at a roundabout,was damaged in the explosion at around 7:15 PM,sources said.

The militants had yesterday fired at a running train near Wadrengdisa station,killing a CRPF jawan and injuring 14 passengers.

The DHD(J) has struck thrice during this week.

The militants had ambushed the convoy of Election Observer A P Singh at Jungun on April 8 though there was no casualty.

The district and neighbouring Karbi Anglong district,falling under Autonomous District Lok Sabha seat,would go the polls in the first phase of election on April 16.
