  • The silence of Maharashtra’s politicians conveys two things. One, that they are loath to counter Thackeray for fear of alienating a possibly chauvinistic vote. Two, that they are letting Thackeray ignite divisions in the hope that the vote will split up to their advantage. As for the Maharashtra government, whether it is acting upon these concerns is immaterial. Because ultimately it is failing to meet its administrative responsibilities.

Minimum CityBy: G Krishnamurthy | 14-Sep-2008 Reply | Forward The Congress did it in Punjao in the 1980s and successfully created a Bhindranwale. Now, they are trying to play votebank politics with Raj Thackeray, and are likely to end up with a fragmented Bombay. May God save us from these politicians!
Government abdicating its responsibility to citizensBy: Rajan | 14-Sep-2008 Reply | Forward Congress Govt. in Maharashtra is as usual playing politics when the state is being held to ransom by one man. This is because congress feels that by letting Raj do this it is cutting into the Shiv Sena votes. However, one thing the Congress is forgetting is that it is in the Govt. and its primary duty is to protect the citizens from harm. If it abdicates this duty it has no right to continue in Govt. If Maharashtrians want a goonda raj to substitute Governance then they will be the ultimate losers. Because, What goes around Comes around.

Lets Make Maharashtra the best.By: Pavan | 14-Sep-2008 Reply | Forward Well, here the whole battle of words is a ego issue and a effort to maintain law and order. Mr. Prasad may have said these words to instill confidence that Mumbai Police will always protect. Mr. Raj Thackeray is an very intelligent person, but is driving his powress the wrong way. Yes Maharashtra belongs to Maharashtrains, but it is India first. We would really love it if MNS as a ru maharashtrian would do something for the people of Maharashtra. The farmers, the economy, the living standards eg, have a meeting with Mr. Ratan Tata and ask him to start his plant in Maharashtra, provide jobs to locals here. Grow the economy. Lets scare the terrorists from entering Maharashtra and set an example for other states. Lets give confidence of a safe, business friendly, educated state. We are with you Rajsaheb. Lets all move away from smaller issues to the bigger ones and make Maharashtra the Jewel of India
Minimum cityBy: shirish | 13-Sep-2008 Reply | Forward It’s sheer arrogance of Mr. Prasad to have uttered these types of words. It is demeaning for anybody- leave apart a person occupying high office like Mr. Prasad to have said these words. Certainly this is not wel come. Mr. Prasad should act if any illegal things are done. Mumbai police should indeed do whatever they are supposed to, to maintain law and order in the city. And I hope preventing bomb blasts in city should be one such activity. Catching and prosecuting the culprits and bringing them to courts and have them punished is yet another. Police have enough such unfinished works to complete and Mr. Prasad should concentrate on them. This story is totally silent on it. The very law and order which police chief is talking about will get disturbed due to such foul language.
Mr.Prasad - a befittingTrue citizenBy: indian | 14-Sep-2008 Reply | Forward your observation is an insult to any police officer. Mr.prasad is the only police officer of this country who has guts to say what is right or wrong? and you are commenting on it. Are you one of the followers of Mr.Raj . only then you can justify him. What do you expect the police officers to keep quiet when there is so much of disturbances occured in mumbai and you have an idiot HOme Minister who cannot take action. You have all the minstry of maharashtra who keep quiet even their mouth shut !! We hate people like you. You should have the courage to appreciate the police at least.
Answer to Mr.PrasadBy: Rohan | 15-Sep-2008 Reply | Forward Mumbai has become the dumping bin of the country. The south Indians don't even accept a national language, forget accepting our poor downtrodden bhaaiyas. So all the shit Lalu Mulayam or Mayawati create by being extraordinarily corrupt has to be dumped in Mumbai. This is a case of cultural genocide where the local population is being wiped out. I am no supporter of Raj but he has struck the right cord and it is showing. The flame is brightest before it goes off. The same will happen of the Maharashtrian population of Mumbai before they are totally wiped off. God save Maharashtra and Mumbai
