Minister kin booked for rape of minor

A resident of Kahlwan village in Tarn Taran district,who is also a close relative of Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Ranjit Singh Brahampura,was booked for the rape of a minor girl on Wednesday.

A resident of Kahlwan village in Tarn Taran district,who is also a close relative of Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Ranjit Singh Brahampura,was booked for the rape of a minor girl on Wednesday.

A former functionary of Grudwara Chohla Sahib,Satnam Singh was booked after the victim’s mother,Sukhpreet Kaur,lodged a complaint that Singh had repeatedly raped her 13-year-old daughter in the last two weeks.

Singh (45),who is married,has been booked under Sections 376,506 and 120-B of the IPC. The accused,who is the son-in-law of Brahampura’s younger brother,is absconding.

According to the FIR,Singh used to frequent the house of the victim’s grandmother,Gurjit Kaur. She allegedly connived with him and left the girl alone with him one day.

According to sources close to Brahampura,who is a senior Akali leader from Majha area,Singh used to accompany the minister at various public functions.
