Ministers’ resignations admission of guilt: Oppn

Reacting to the resignation of two ministers,Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee chief Rita Bahuguna Joshi said the state government has again tried to escape the CBI probe. “It is a way to cover up a huge scam which seems to involve the Chief Minister’s Office,” Joshi told The Indian Express over phone.

According to her,if anybody should resign from the post on moral grounds,it is CM Mayawati who is also the Home Minister of the state. She added the two murder cases of doctors have exposed the “Jungle Raj” in the state. She suggested both Kushwaha and Mishra should support the demand for CBI probe to prove their innocence.

“If the CM,Mayawati,is honest,she should forward the case to the CBI,” she added. “Nothing less than a CBI probe,” she emphatically said.

BJP state president Surya Pratap Shahi said the government has accepted there was a huge scam in the Health department and the Chief Minister can’t escape from her responsibility. She has asked her ministers to resign in order to escape from the CBI probe. In a press release issued by the BJP,Shahi said the officers can’t ensure impartial probe in this matter as the beneficiaries have links in the Chief Minister’s Office. “Thus the CBI probe is necessary in this matter,” the release said.

The state’s main Opposition Samajwadi Party (SP) described the resignation of two ministers on moral ground as another drama. The SP said the resignation drama has proved the involvement of both the ministers in the whole episode. The party has demanded the state governor B L Joshi to dismiss the Mayawati government.
