Minor allegedly kidnapped, raped
A minor girl of Sector 21, Panchkula, has allegedly been raped, police said. According to police, the girl was found missing from her house following which her father lodged a kidnapping case with the police post in the area. However the girl returned to her house on Friday and told her parents that she was raped. Police officials said that they have started the investigations and the medical examination of the girl is being done.
NSS camp ends at Mohali school
Chandigarh: A seven-day-long NSS camp ended at Shivalik Public School, Mohali, on Friday. School director D S Bedi told the students to continue social work in future. Prizes were awarded to the best NSS volunteers for their all-round performance during the camp.
Census workshop enters day two
Chandigarh: The second day of the workshop on "Data Dissemination" witnessed a discussion on the use of innovative and flexible database technology for dissemination of population and housing census results. The workshop was presided over by TN Bindhyeshwari, Director, Census Operations Chandigarh. Speakers from Panjab University, CRRID and Paryavaran Bhawan discussed issues such as analysis of housing condition of schedule castes, gender issues, amenities, modes of transportation and communication available with the households in Chandigarh.
Symposium on architecture held
Chandigarh: First Friday Forum (FFF) organized a symposium on architecture, science and art to familiarize the gathering with the role that architecture, science and art have played over the years. Padma Shri Kashmiri Lal Zakir was honored for promotion of the Urdu language. Advocate Suman Jain received an award for diversified social work. An award for graphic design was presented to Ajay Yashpaul. Architect Archana Chaudhary received the award for blending architecture with planning in building design. An award will be given annually in the memory of satirist Jaspal Bhatti.
