A 13-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped, raped and forced into pick-pocketing till she managed to escape from Southeast Delhi's Ambedkar Nagar area.
According to police, the girl was kidnapped on March 15 from near her house and was taken to Khanpur in South Delhi. The man who kidnapped her has been identified as Sunder.
Police said the girl was forced into pick-pocketing over the last three days. "The girl, along with some other girls, stole a wallet and some mobile phones from a bus on the first day. Later, when she went back to the house of the accused, the girl was made to consume alcohol, after which she was raped by the accused," said a police officer.
The girl managed to escape from Sunder's house on the fourth day, police said. "She escaped from the house while everyone was away and managed to make a call to her family. Her family members came to Budh Market and rescued her," the officer said.
The girl told the Child Welfare Committee that after being kidnapped, she was sedated and confined in Sunder's house after she fell unconscious.
She also told the CWC that she was given new clothes to wear and food to eat before being forced into pick-pocketing.
The girl's family had registered a complaint. "The parents of the girl had already registered a complaint with us about her being kidnapped. Since the girl came back and narrated the whole incident, she was sent for a medical examination to confirm rape," a police officer said.
The examination confirmed rape and a case was registered against Sunder.
Police are also trying to find out how many other girls were being held captive by Sunder and being forced into pick-pocketing.
